The Fisheries Faculty was founded in 1982 as “4-year School College” within the structure of Ondokuz Mayıs University. Our school, which was started education and training in Samsun in 1984-1985 academic year and the college was transferred to Sinop in March 1986, while it has been transformed into a Faculty. Our faculty was attached to Sinop University, which was established by the law number 5662 and published in the Official Gazette number 26536 on May 29, 2007. The Faculty consists of 7 sections and 3 departments, which are “Department of Hydrobiology, Department of Aquaculture and Department of Fishing and Processing Technology. As of 2019, there are 10 Professors, 8 Associate Professors, 11 Dr. Lecturers and 8 Research Assistants, which are consists of 37 academic and 31 administrative staff members.

Our faculty serves in two buildings, which are A and B Block in 10.000 m² area. In order to ensure that scientific researches are carried out in the best possible way through educational activities, there are 4 lecture halls, 1 conference room, 4 classrooms, 1 computer laboratory, 9 research laboratories, 2 aquarium units and 1 closed circuit aquaculture unit, which are equipped in accordance with today’s conditions. Seydi Ali Reis R / V (22.5 mt) and Aurelia R / V (11 mt) research vessels are used in scientific studies and student applications. In the campus of our faculty; It has the sports facility with a basketball field, volleyball court, basketball court and tennis court. Our students’ sports activities and facilities in the campus and cafeteria with meals and social needs are met.

   The students who enrolled in our faculty are awarded the title “Fisheries Engineer” after four years of applied undergraduate education. The fields of study of our graduates;
