
The Faculty of Aquaculture was established in 1982 as a 4-year college within Ondokuz Mayıs University with the Decree Law No. 41. Our School, which started education and training in Samsun in 1984-1985 academic year and was transferred to Sinop in March 1986, was transformed into a Faculty in 1992. Our faculty was affiliated to Sinop University, which was published in the Official Gazette dated May 29, 2007 and numbered 26536 and established by Law No. 5662. In terms of academic structuring, our Faculty, which consists of 3 Departments and 7 Departments, namely Department of Fisheries Basic Sciences, Department of Aquaculture, Department of Aquaculture and Department of Aquaculture and Processing Technology, provides undergraduate education as well as postgraduate (Master and Doctorate) education. As of 2022, there are 39 academic and 14 administrative staff, including 20 Professor Doctors, 9 Associate Professors, 10 Assistant Professors.
Our faculty campus serves in two buildings, Block A and Block B, on an area of 10,000 m². There are 4 lecture halls, 1 conference hall, 4 classrooms, 1 computer laboratory, 9 research laboratories, 2 aquarium units and 1 closed circuit aquaculture unit, which are equipped in accordance with today’s conditions in order to carry out education and training activities and scientific research in the best way. Two research vessels belonging to our university, Seydi Ali Reis R/V (22.5 mt) and SUFAK-82 R/V (14.5 mt), are also used in scientific studies and student practical applications. The sports facility with an astroturf field, volleyball court, basketball court and tennis court located on the campus of our faculty provides opportunities for our students’ sportive activities, and their food and social needs are met with the cafeteria and dining hall located on the campus.
Students enrolled in our faculty gain the title of “Aquaculture Engineer” after 4 years of applied undergraduate education. Working areas of our graduates;

Our Faculty, which conducts scientific studies on a national and international scale in various fields such as the management of our aquaculture resources with a conservationist approach in order to ensure the sustainability of our aquaculture resources and their healthy transfer to future generations, the development and proper use of fishing tools and equipment for sustainable fishing, the processing of aquaculture products, the reduction of pollution elements in marine and inland waters, and educates the human resources required in these fields, namely Aquaculture Engineers, is waiting for you, our valuable students, with its staff consisting of experts in the field with 40 years of academic experience in Sinop, the pearl of the Black Sea.
